This page explains how Dear Optimist uses data for advertising and marketing, and the choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Your journal entries, voice memos, weather ratings, and custom affirmations are private to you. We never sell them or use them to target ads. Dear Optimist is a well-being app and is not a HIPAA-covered service.
This website does not collect any personal information — it has no forms, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything listed above happens in the mobile app, and only for free users.
For free users, ads are served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To show and measure ads, Google and its partners may process your advertising identifier, IP address, and app interaction and diagnostic data. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. This website itself does not show ads.
A premium subscription removes ads. Purchases are processed by RevenueCat and the app stores; we do not receive your full payment-card details, and your subscription data is not used for third-party ad targeting. See the Terms of Service for subscription details.
Personalized ads use prior activity to infer interests; non-personalized ads use only contextual and coarse signals. You can control this at any time:
We only have your email address if you emailed us, or if you signed up for the beta before Dear Optimist launched. We do not sell or rent it, and we use it only to reply to you. To have a beta-list address removed, email hello@dearoptimist.app and we'll remove it promptly.
We do not sell your personal information. Sharing data with the ad services above to show ads to free users may qualify as a “sale” or “share” under some US state laws; you can opt out with the in-app toggle above or by emailing hello@dearoptimist.app.
Dear Optimist is rated 13+. We do not knowingly serve personalized ads to anyone under 13.
